How to Screen Robotic Dresspack Suppliers: Five Pieces of Evidence First

Summary: Instead of brand rankings, screen suppliers on five pieces of evidence: model fit tables, BOM, test reports, project trial fits and delivery service.

1. Why a well-known brand is not enough
A brand reduces the cost of a first screening, but it does not prove that a particular model will fit, run and remain serviceable. What actually determines the project is the robot model, the interfaces, the motion envelope, the cable configuration and the site conditions.
2. Evidence one: the model fit table
Ask the supplier for a complete mapping of robot models, axis interfaces, mounting methods and matching series. “We support brand X” is not enough — it should resolve to specific models.
The bore series solves “does it fit”; the mechanism series solves “how does it move”. The 29/36/48/70 mm bores are used to check conduit capacity and bend radius, while Series 1–6 cover motion structures such as collaborative, rotary bracket, external spring, barrel, telescopic bracket and C-flange. The two must be confirmed together.
3. Evidence two: BOM and critical parts
A BOM should show the origin and specification of the conduit, mounting brackets, springs, splitters, connectors and cables. Different projects may use different configurations, but critical parts should never be described only as “imported equivalent” with no specifics.

4. Evidence three: test reports
A report should state the specimen, test conditions, frequency, angle, radius, load and termination criteria. In our own testing, no abnormality was found after 5 million flexing cycles, while the torsion specimen showed whitening at the mid-section after testing, with no fracture recorded. That evidence applies to the conduit specimen — it does not mean every complete dresspack has the same service life under every condition.
5. Evidence four: trial fit and acceptance
Before volume supply, run a single-station trial fit to check the full motion range, interference, cable pull, fixing torque and maintenance access. Without a trial-fit record, a supplier is still at the proposal stage, not at verified delivery.
6. Evidence five: spares and service
Confirm the wear parts, spare-part scope, lead time and on-site support model. All delivery and stock commitments should be governed by the contract and the current schedule.
7. The screening order
First eliminate solutions that do not fit the model, then compare BOM and testing, and finally decide on the basis of trial fit and full-lifecycle cost. This order is more reliable than starting from the price.
