1. Collect site data first — do not quote a model number first

The first step is not asking “48 or 70?” It is recording the robot model, motion path, end-of-arm tooling, cable list, mounting method and site photos or video. Site data drives the solution — the site should not be forced to fit whatever is in stock.

2. The design must explain the motion

The proposal should describe the stroke, rotary mechanism, fixing points and cable routing, ideally supported by a 3D model or a motion-envelope check. An assembly drawing alone, with no explanation of how the dresspack behaves in extreme poses, is not sufficient.

3. The BOM and drawings are the external interface

The dedicated part number, BOM, installation drawings and critical dimensions must be confirmed before delivery. If the customer can read the BOM, spares and repairs later have a basis. A project bill of materials can be broken down into power cables, encoder cables, communication cables, water and air lines, conduit and outer sheathing, mounting brackets, splitters, anti-collision balls, spring / rotary / telescopic mechanisms, connectors, fireproof cloth, labels and packaging consumables.

4. The trial fit is where the real problems show up

A single-station trial fit should run normal motion, extreme poses, maintenance poses and tool changes, checking for pull, sag, interference and loose fixings. A trial fit is not a formality — it brings the risk forward.

5. Acceptance and review produce reusable experience

The acceptance record covers the motion range, interference check, fastening torque, protection status and spare-parts list. After the project, write the problems and changes back into a review so the next robot can reuse them.

6. Principles for disclosing project data

Customer names, cycle time, availability, failure rate and financial benefit require customer authorisation before publication. For unauthorised projects we describe method and process only, with no specific customer figures.
